So ummmmm…..I just found a job for an agency that provides shelter, counseling, etc for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and other life crises here in Indy. It would be emotionally draining. But something is telling me I should apply for this. I think the rewards would outweigh the emotional toll it would take on me. When I tell people I want a job that means something to me, that is fulfilling in some way, this is what I mean.

LONDON, UK — The UK’s gay marriage bill passed the House of Commons on Tuesday, by a vote of 366 to 161. It now goes before the House of Lords.

Monday night’s Commons debate on the bill resulted in #aggressivehomosexual trending on Twitter in a cheeky nod to a Tory MP’s comments on the bill.

Tory MP Sir Gerald Howarth warned that the bill was a stepping stone for the “aggressive homosexual community,” prompting many gay marriage supporters to take to Twitter to express their… well, humor.

It seems that in the 1950s homemakers were used to soap flakes and would not purchase a product that did not behave in the way they were used to. Sixty years later, despite the adverse ecological effects of this sudsing chemical it is still added.

Paris police have evacuated Notre Dame Cathedral after a former far-right activist killed himself in front of its main altar.

The man, Dominique Venner, 78, a historian known in France for his political essays, was carrying a letter but made no declaration before shooting himself through the mouth, the source said.

A note posted on his blog on Tuesday criticised a law passed by the Socialist government last week legalising same-sex marriage.

Notre Dame is one of the capital’s most popular tourist attractions, with about 13 million visitors a year.

The suicide was the first in decades at the site, according to Monsignor Patrick Jacquin, the cathedral’s rector. “It’s unfortunate, it’s dramatic, it’s shocking,” he said. The motives for the death, and the contents of the man’s letter, were unclear.

Police ushered people out of the building after the shooting, the interior minister, Manuel Valls said. “We call for compassion,” he added.

School groups have been queuing to enter the cathedral, which was expected to reopen for an evening service that officials said would include a prayer for Venner.
